I'm glad that Beyond Broadcast points out that nothing precludes TV stations from using their spectrum for broadband, but there seem to be no transceivers on the market for licensed use. (Know of any?) Low cost single-chip transceivers from ChipCon (http://www.chipcon.com/index.cfm?kat_ID=2&subkat_Id=12&subsubkat_id=60) and Melexis (http://www.melexis.com/prodmain.asp_Q_family_E_TH7122) indicate that the challenge isn't technical. Also, this hack by Clint Turner (http://www.ussc.com/~turner/t1modem.html that will transmit at 1 Mb/s over UHF, as well as BushLAN in Australia (http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/bushlan/background.html).
But where's the gear? Surely there are TV stations that would jump in if there were turn-key systems available.

Posted by: michael at July 3, 2004 04:37 PMFor cross-platform compatibility, you should post the papers in pdf form at the least. OpenOffice, while a great word processor, sometimes chokes on word documents.
